Cats can be particular about where they sleep, so the best cat bed is not always the biggest or most expensive one. Size, shape, warmth, placement, and how your cat normally rests all matter.
Watch how your cat sleeps
A cat that curls tightly into a ball may prefer a nest, cave, or semi-enclosed bed. A cat that stretches out often may be more comfortable on a wider pillow-style bed. Cats that seek blankets, boxes, or tucked-away corners may especially like enclosed designs.
Measure before you order
Measure your cat from the base of the tail to the chest while relaxed, then compare that measurement with the usable sleeping area listed for the bed. Leave a little extra room so your cat can change positions comfortably.
Think about location
Place the bed somewhere your cat already likes to rest. A quiet corner, sunny window area, or low-traffic room often works better than putting a new bed in the middle of a busy space.
Warmth and enclosure
Semi-enclosed beds can help create a sheltered sleeping space, while open beds are easier to enter and may be better for cats that prefer visibility. Older cats may appreciate easier access with a lower entry.
